Dive deep into the exciting world of our senses and the amazing brain God gave us to make sense of it all! Join us for this fun adventure as we explore each sense and how the brain processes these incoming messages in a way that makes learning come alive! We will map the brain, learn how to use an otoscope, dissect a cow’s eyeball, test our sense of touch, smell, and taste in memorable ways, and so much more!
This FIVE-DAY science camp is for 8–11-year-olds (limited class size)
Session #1: June 20-24 (Full)
Session #2: July 25-29 (3 spots remaining!)

DAY 1: Brain Overview/Sense of Touch
We will start making our brain caps and learning about the parts of the brain and how it functions and then focus on the sense of touch, including how sensory input is relayed and conducting experiments to determine where the largest number of touch receptors are located. Experiments, an art project, and movement-rich games to aid in understanding make this day both fun and deep!
DAY 2: Sense of Hearing
Our sense of hearing is amazing. We are going to conduct experiments and build models to highlight the function and design in each aspect of the ear as well as learning about the inner ear’s roll in maintaining vestibular input. Finally they will get learn how to use a real otoscope and the importance of safety with our ears.
DAY 3: SIGHT
Rods, cones, and cornea’s, oh my! Today is the day we explore how God designed our eyes. It will be chock full of all kinds of fun visual games and learning about visual health and how visual messages are conveyed to the brain. We will finish the day off with dissecting cow eyeballs!
DAY 4: SMELL
Today we will wrap up the sense of sight with learning about color blindness before putting on our detective caps and solving some mysteries. Smell and taste go hand in hand. We will begin this exploration with the sense of smell. We will explore the olfactory bulb, the role of boogers, and protective mechanisms built into our noses. We will conduct smell tests and learn about the impact of sickness on this important sense.
DAY 5: TASTE / REVIEW
We will recap the smell/taste connection as we learn about the different types of taste buds. Games and science experiments will help solidify understanding. We will learn about taking care of our taste buds and the vital importance of training our taste buds! We will end the day with games to solidify understanding of what we learned about this week in a sensory rich way that will be unforgettable.
