You have an opportunity to CULTIVATE…
…a sense of wonder
…curiosity
…a spirit of exploration
…the desire to think deeply and make connections
…a life-long love of learning
…the skills necessary to work together
…the ability to love
…the opportunity to feel loved
You have an opportunity to pour into the people you love most as you prepare them for life. An opportunity to invite your children into the journey of learning and discovery WITH you
This is what Cultivated Learning is all about.
What does it mean to have a home where you learn? What does it look like to cultivate an atmosphere where learning happens by default rather than through coercion or bribes? How do you spark their curiosity so they explore and learn on their own?
It starts with a mindset. It continues with recognizing that our children are people with minds and hearts that are developing. They aren’t like legos or blocks to be built up, but rather young seedlings who need nurturing.
This means taking a personalized and developmentally appropriate approach to education. It means extending grace because they are in process. Learning flourishes in the context of loving relationships.
And so we set about to create an atmosphere where children thrive, where families are strengthened, and where learning becomes an integrated part of living.
We would love to come alongside you and help make that a reality in your home. It might be messy and sometimes hard. But it’s so worth it!
In this space we will equip you to read great books with your kids, cultivate the art of conversation, and embark on adventures together in a way that draws you together, helps everyone grow, and fosters life-long learning.

We’re so excited you are here. This whole life-learning journey has been our reality for over 3 decades – as the kid, as mothers, and now as a grandmother! We love helping others craft their own journey with their kids of learning and growing.
Together, we have been encouraging and equipping families for nearly 20 years. Colene’s extensive knowledge of kid literature and understanding of how children learn has helped many. Heather’s focus on neuro-physiology and passion for how the mind grows and learns that began in college fuels her pursuit of helping families embrace the power of movement.
Those interests dovetail into a desire to cultivate a home where we think deeply and work with unique personalities and rates of development as we prepare our children for whatever God has for their future!
It prompts us to ask questions such as… What does it mean to be present with our kids? How can we help them flourish? What kind of culture do we want to create in our own homes and how do personalities and backgrounds factor into how each home will look just a little bit different? We will be asking a lot of WHY’s and sharing the answers to those why’s. When we understand WHY something is so important, it helps us to embrace doing it even if it’s hard and even if it seems that few others are doing that. For instance, it’s easier to read that book for the millionth time when you know how important it is…
Heather Haupt is an author and speaker who was homeschooled and is now homeschooling her four children. Her background in neuroscience alongside her voracious love of learning and fascination with HOW kids learn has fueled both her own family’s learning adventures as well as her desire to equip other families. Recognizing the brevity of childhood and the power of a parent’s influence, Heather both inspires and equips families toward intentional parenting, pursuing God, and delighting in the adventure of learning.
She is the author of the book Knights in Training: Ten Principles for Raising Honorable, Courageous and Compassionate Boys, – a parenting book that inspires and equips parents to make the most of these growing up years. She wrote The Ultimate Guide to Brain Breaks – a book about how learning wires the brain to learn and how to harness the power of movement to help kids (and parents too) focus. Finally, she is the co-author of GO GLOBAL: A Literature-Heavy, Movement-Rich Learning Adventure, a one-year curriculum that lays down the foundations of global awareness and sparks a love of learning.
Colene Lewis is a teacher, mentor, speaker, and curriculum developer. She is passionate about equipping and inspiring parents, teachers, and students to live cultivated lives—lives of purpose and full of learning.
Colene homeschooled her three daughters through high school in a home where learning was a joy and a way of life. Each earned academic scholarships to college where they excelled in diverse fields of biology, engineering, English, political science, and law. More importantly, all three women are walking with the Lord and raising their own families now.
Colene is the co-author of GO GLOBAL, a one-of-a-kind world geography curriculum geared to children between ages 5-8 based on living books, hands-on activities, and cross-culture exploration. She is also the co-author of Russia: The Land of Endurance, published by KONOS.
